Asset Location & Verification

Division of assets during a divorce is expected to be a “fair and equitable” process. Early in the proceedings, each party to the divorce is expected to provide full and honest disclosure of all the assets. In a divorce where alimony or child support is ordered, there is a continuing duty to inform each other of changes in income or child-related expenses. Our private investigators are occasionally asked to verify assets in cases where a party may have been careless or sloppy in their disclosures and additional evidence is necessary. Co-Habitation

In cases involving alimony, cohabitation can change the amount of alimony paid – sometimes significantly. We are frequently tasked with proving cohabitation; primarily using surveillance (and other investigative resources) to obtain the needed evidence. Child Welfare & Safety

Nothing is more important than the safety and welfare of our children. It is not only the obligation of the parent but of society as well. Atlantis Private Investigations has cooperated with both State and Federal law enforcement agencies to assist in the identification and prosecution of child predators and domestic violence offenders. We have provided both testimony and documentary evidence supporting claims of child endangerment and violations of court orders. We have also been called upon multiple times to assist law enforcement with locating runaway teens.

Alimony, Child Custody & Support

There are several factors that are considered by the Court in determining the amount of alimony or child support. Generally, a material change in one or more of these factors which substantially affects the amount of support is considered a “change of circumstances” for the purposes of requesting relief. For example, if your former partner begins a new job or receives a pay increase, this can result in a change in the amount of support you pay or receive. Similarly, changes in your own income or certain child-related expenses can also affect the bottom line. In the majority of family law cases, this can be handled competently through the regular practice of disclosure; however, for the most part, the legal system relies on self-reporting and honesty of the parties. When the situation requires outside verification, then we can obtain verifying evidence.

Infidelity/Cheaters

As a private investigator, we have handled scores of infidelity or "cheater" cases. The signs are not difficult to spot. For instance, changing phone habits, such as never leaving it unattended, adding a password, walking out of the room to take phone calls, or seeing a pattern of text messages on the phone bill.

A change in drug or alcohol usage - spending more time with friends who use drugs or alcohol. Substance abuse is a major factor when it comes to possible infidelity. Similarly, changes in sexual behavior. Variances in sexual behavior or noting that your partner is coming home from work freshly showered. Again, these are just some of the factors.

Any of these signs by themselves are not cause for alarm, but if there is a pattern emerging or a noticeable change in behavior, then it is possible you have a cheating partner.

Infidelity/Cheaters

Some studies have shown that 65% of married couples in America have had, or are currently having, an affair. Moreover, 85% of women who feel their lover is cheating are correct and 50% of men who feel their lover is cheating are right. Here are some factors to consider:

• Sudden increase in time away from home
• Decreased sexual interest with you
• Cheating spouse is often distracted and day dreaming
• Cheating husband or wife is often “unavailable” while at work
• Cheating spouse attends new functions outside of work and wants to go alone
• Cell phone calls from you are not returned in timely fashion
• Cheating spouse leaves house or goes to other rooms to talk on the telephone
• Cheating spouse uses computer alone and secretly
• Cheating spouse asks about your schedule more often than usual
• Mileage on car is high yet he / she reports only short distance errands
• Clothes smell of perfume or cologne
• Cheating spouse gets his / her laundry done independently
• Unexplained payments on bank statements
• Cheating spouse has more cash on hand without accountability
• Cell phone bills contain calls with long duration
• Cheating spouse now has a phone card but never used one before
• Cheating wife or husband has unexplained receipts in wallet or purse
